摘要

To further increase the total thermal efficiency of truck diesel engine, Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) system model based on bench test has been built for simulation. A simple ORC system with recuperator is analyzed and the influence of expander and recuperator on the ORC system scheme is evaluated. Several working fluids are selected for system scheme optimization, and the high efficiency scroll expander and the high expand ratio piston expander are both considered in the schemes. Comprehensive optimization of recuperator and expander shows that recuperator benefits from the large temperature difference created by large expansion ratio or low expander efficiency, yet the efficiency increase of recuperator is insignificant with wet fluids. Cyclopentane ORC system coupled with piston expander can achieve 8.81kW output for conventional diesel engine waste heat recovery, which is 75.5% of the ideal expander output without utilizing high efficiency expander; while coupled with scroll expander, the system can recover 5.58kW energy from high efficiency engine exhaust, which is 66.3% of the ideal expander output without high evaporation temperature. However, minor optimization of system scheme is inadequate for high efficiency diesel engine waste heat recovery, high quality heat exchangers are required to further improve ORC system power output.
